Choosing Help Over Hustle Changes Everything

The loudest voice in a busy home is often the quiet one inside that whispers you’re behind. We’re flipping that script with a warm, practical roadmap to move from overwhelm to action, without chasing perfection or burning out before breakfast.

We start by naming what so many women feel but rarely say out loud: the loop of guilt, comparison, and negative self-talk that makes every hallway crumb feel like a character flaw. Then we get specific. I walk through a simple way to make space for honest reflection, map your current reality, and choose one clear target, like keeping the hallway clear or getting on top of bills.

Progress is visible, not wishful.

You’ll hear how SMART goals can be kind and realistic, why a one-year horizon is often wiser than a one-week sprint, and how small supports (timers, baskets, two-minute resets) turn good intentions into habits that last.

We also explore readiness. Wanting change isn’t the same as being ready to take it on, and that’s okay. I share how to spot when you’re stuck in a victim mindset, how to step out with compassion, and why coaching works best once you choose to act. For my impulsive kindred spirits, there’s a better way: use that spark to start, then add guardrails to stay steady.

Beyond task lists, we talk identity and faith: holding the tension of being enough today while growing for tomorrow. As we move toward the end of the year, you’ll get a simple seasonal plan: pick one anchor habit and one tidy zone to protect your energy and keep your home and mind grounded.

If you’re tired of trying everything and watching nothing stick, this conversation is your reset. We’re building a life that serves your purpose, supports your family, and shows your kids what resilience looks like, one doable step at a time.

So if you're ready for change but don't know where to begin, book in your free 20 min call with me and we'll get you moving forward again

Mel:

Welcome to Beyond Organised, the podcast that helps you simplify your life and amplify your purpose. I'm Mel Schenker, life coach, speaker, founder of She's Organised, but, more importantly, a wife and mum of four little kids. If you've ever felt overwhelmed, like you're constantly juggling everything but never quite catching up, this is the place for you. Here we go beyond just the tidying up and creating systems. We're talking about real life strategies that bring order to your life, but also we talk about the things beyond the organising, the things that really matter, like your parenting relationships and so much more. So grab your coffee and let's dive in.

Mel:

Today I wanted to just do a smaller, more simple episode for you. I really, really feel to just do an episode where I encourage you. I am talking to women on a daily basis, all incredible, all amazing, everyday mums, everyday women. And the most common thing that I'm seeing is I'm not good enough. I'm failing. I feel guilty for doing this or not doing that. I'm overwhelmed. I'm just not good at what I do. Like it's just all this negative self-talk. And yeah, okay, maybe you're not keeping up with things. Maybe things have gotten a bit out of hand. But that is so normal. It is so normal to have periods of your life and seasons where it is a challenge. And it's okay to ask for help.

Mel:

So a lot of the people that I'm talking to, there's quite a number of them that are ready to take action. They're ready to actually take on the feedback and the help that I'm giving them. But so many, so many of you aren't. You come to me overwhelmed, stressed, not sure what to do, but you're actually not ready to take action. You're still stuck in a, well, I hate to say it, but you're still stuck in a bit of a victim mentality for a lot of you, not all of you, but it's a very hard place to coach and to come out of when you're still in a very bitter kind of place. So I encourage you that if this is you, if you are stuck in this overwhelm, but you really desperately want life to be just more simple, more balanced, that you just get through the everyday and you can actually have a smile on your face.

Mel:

If this is you and you're being stuck in this cycle of maybe trying a whole lot of different things, but none of it's quite sticking because you're not quite ready yet. I encourage you to actually spend some time with yourself. So without the kids around, without distraction, if you can, get in a babysitter, get your mum to help, get someone, anyone if possible to help, or even if you don't, do this in the middle of the night if you need to. But take some time to actually work out where you currently are, work out what you would like to be, and a time frame for it. So if you're currently stuck in this season where you can't get on top of the household chores, your place is a mess. No matter where you walk, you walk down the hallway and there's bits of rubbish around the place as well, just because you can't even get around to sweeping it or vacuuming it up. There's constant reminders everywhere of falling short, or even around your work, you're not keeping on top of your workload. Maybe it's your time, you're constantly running late to different events, having to cancel last minute just because things get out of control, your money is all over the place, and you're scraping around trying to find coins under the couch just to pay for things.

Mel:

Whatever the situation is, I want you to map out what your current reality is. And I want you to think about where you would like to be. Maybe it's just having the hallways clear. Maybe it's being able to stay on top of your finances a bit more. Whatever it is, I want you to work out what your ideal position is and then put a time to it. Now, I'm not talking about having your life completely in order by this time next week. We want to be realistic with our goals. I'm sure many of you have heard of SMART goals. We want to use the SMART goal system. We want to be specific and measurable and all of that. So put a time to it. And look for a lot of people, even a year is a realistic time. Now, if you're impulsive like me, you want it done yesterday. I get it. I really do. But it's not always about having that instant result. Sometimes it's actually about sitting in it, working through it, working out why you've come to this position, how you've come to this position in your life, and why you want things to be different.

Mel:

So I also wanted to say that regardless of where your starting point is, whether you really are a complete mess or not, I want to encourage you that you're not failing. You might have been paused, you might have been set back, you might have even completely fallen flat on your face, but it's okay. Because then the only way from there is up. And you don't have to get back up on your own. I'm offering a hand. I'm offering a hand to help you get back up off the ground and moving forward again.

Mel:

If you feel that you are ready to break out of this season that you've been in, that you're so tired of being stuck and you're just done. You are ready to take action no matter what it is you've got to do, which I'm telling you, I'm not gonna make it too painful. But if you're ready, I encourage you to book in a 20-minute free clarity call with me. If you book in the call with me, we'll talk about your current situation. We'll look at some options for you. So if you book in the call with me, we'll go through your current situation and talk about the ways in which we can help move you forward and then point out the best coaching offer and package for you. So then we can get you going because I'm seeing it daily, every day, women all over the world.

Mel:

I love my Aussie mums. I'm an Aussie too. But I've got so many of you in the US, Canada, UK, New Zealand. Honestly, you're everywhere. It's all the same message. You're all feeling that strain and that stress, and you're just stuck. And you're ready. You are ready to break free of this and carve out a better life for you. Because it's not just about you, it's about your children that are watching you, learning from you, how you handle this. And it's not a sign of weakness asking for help. I would love to help you in whatever capacity that is, with whatever budget you've got. I would love to help you.

Mel:

So please, if that's you, feel free to book in that clarity call. And I just want to encourage you that you are not alone in this. You are amazing. You are so precious. You were created just right. And I know you might be feeling like you've stuffed up, that you haven't made the best choices in life. But as a firm believer, as a Christian here, I'm telling you, God does not make mistakes. And I know it can feel like sometimes that maybe you're even the mistake, or your children, or things that have happened to you, and you probably feel terrible for thinking that way. But he doesn't make mistakes. But he can make anything good come from your current situation. He's made you with the personality and the tendencies that you've got. Don't be hard on yourself if you are that impulsive person that you can't keep to a schedule, can't keep to a budget or anything like that. All of these things can be strengths, and I can help you with that because I have been that impulsive person. I have been that woman, that mother so hard on myself, feeling like I'm completely failing everyone I love and everything around me. And I haven't stayed there. I'm not in that position anymore. I don't think that way about myself. Yeah, of course, there's things I am constantly trying to improve and make better and be better for me and my family. But I am enough. I am good with who I am today. And I will keep working to be a better person tomorrow.

Mel:

But if that's you and you want to be in a position where you can actually look at yourself in the mirror and go, Yep, that's okay. I might have all the mum fat on my stomach, and I don't really like how I look, or I don't like how I feel, all these things, that's okay. We can get to a position where you can actually look at yourself with who you are now, flaws and all, and go, I'm enough. So I hope that this encouraged you a little bit. I know it's quite different to what we've had, and we've got some incredible speakers lined up in the weeks to come. But I just wanted to encourage you today, particularly as we head into the busy season, as we head towards the end of the year and Christmas time and everything. Just want you to take a minute for yourself to put yourself first, to be able to pour from a cup that is overflowing ideally. So you are enough. Thank you for listening. Thank you for being part of this podcast and the community that I've got. I do appreciate every single one of you. And I would love to hear from you. I would love to hear your thoughts and any struggles that you've got. And we will get going from there. So all the details are in the description, and I hope to connect with you soon.
