Easter can sound like a story for the afterlife, but what if it’s also a roadmap for your overfull, ordinary day? If you’re constantly rushing, trying to hold everything together, and wondering why you still feel worn out, we’re digging into a different angle: Jesus didn’t only come to secure eternity, he came so we can live life to the full right now.

We open up John 10:10 and talk about what “abundant life” looks like in the middle of work deadlines, parenting pressure, money stress, and the endless mental load. We move beyond the idea of being “saved from” and lean into being called into a new way of living (2 Corinthians 5:17) where conviction isn’t condemnation, it’s a loving nudge toward freedom. We also unpack why everyday faith matters more than looking put-together once a week, and how surrendering control becomes an active, daily choice.

You’ll hear practical encouragement anchored in Matthew 11:28–30 for anyone feeling burdened, plus a grounded take on integrity and character through Colossians 3:23. We also explore purpose and influence, not as a platform, but as the quiet impact you have in your home, workplace, and community when you live with intention and wisdom (Ephesians 5:15–16). If you’re a Christian woman who feels like you’ve hit a ceiling, I share how to go deeper through Kingdom Woman Breakthrough and what it’s designed to shift.

Easter Reflection And How To Connect

Speaker

Welcome to Beyond Organised, the podcast that helps you simplify your life and amplify your purpose. I'm Mel Schenker, life coach, speaker, founder of She's Organised, but, more importantly, a wife and mum of four little kids. If you've ever felt overwhelmed, like you're constantly juggling everything but never quite catching up, this is the place for you. Here we go beyond just the tidying up and creating systems. We're talking about real life strategies that bring order to your life, but also we talk about the things beyond the organising, the things that really matter, like your parenting relationships and so much more. So grab your coffee and let's dive in. Today I want to talk a little bit differently on the Easter message. So if you're listening to this around Easter time, perfect. If this is after Easter time, this is still very, very relevant for you. So I want to encourage you to look at this through a fresh lens today. We all are aware of the Easter message to some degree, whether we're Christian or not. Now, for me, with what I believe, Jesus came, he lived a good, perfect life, and he died on the cross for our sins so we can live eternity with him and with the Father forever. That is it in sort of a nutshell, like super, super basic nutshell. Now, I want to focus on a few different scriptures and how a lot of Christians tend to focus on his sacrifice as us getting into heaven, which is true. And yes, that is an amazing gift, and I certainly am grateful for it. But we don't always stop to think about how his sacrifice enabled us to live a better life here and now. That is my focus for today. So I want to first touch on the verse John 10:10. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come, you may have life and life to the full, to the max or abundantly, or whichever version you listen to. But it's important, like he calls us to live life to our fullest potential here. And as much as Jesus died so we could get into heaven and live with him in heaven one day, he has also come so that we can live a good, purposeful, intentional, holy life here, now, and not this constant rushing, being overwhelmed, and constantly striving in our work and in our daily life as well. He wants us to live it to the full. What that can look like in your day is actually slowing down a little bit. Stop just going through the motions. And it's great when you've got routines and you can smash things out. That's okay. But actually taking moments to pause and be intentional with what you're doing, even if it's the same thing that you've done every other day before it. But just being more intentional today, thanking the Lord for today, asking for his guidance if things need to be done differently today, or what can be simplified today. So even if you're doing the same thing as you always do, I challenge you to look at it a bit differently today and be intentional with how you go about it, even if you end up carrying it out exactly the same. Just having a different lens that you're looking through, one of intention. Another thing that a lot of Christians tend to focus on is that we're being saved. Right. So we're being saved from a life of sin. We are being saved from going to hell. We have been saved from you fill in the blank. But it's not just what we've been saved from, it's what is calling us into 2 Corinthians 5.17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here. So you're not the same person anymore. Whether you've been a Christian your whole life, or you've just discovered him, or you're still yet to invite him in. When you become a Christian, you're not the same person anymore. You're not meant to keep living the same way. But in saying that, there's a lot of people that come to Christ and they still live a particular way and without anyone having to say anything to them. Because let's face it, you don't need our judgment, but the conviction happens. The Holy Spirit taps you on the shoulder and goes, Hey, there's a better way of living. You don't need to live like this anymore. Let me show you a better way. So carrying the pressure, thinking the same thoughts, doing the same actions that you know is just not bringing life. You don't have to keep going down that path. There's a new way available to you. One thing that I think a lot of people can get stuck in is always looking forward to the next thing, the next holiday, the next big life event, maybe the next baby, the next wedding, whatever it is. It's always the next thing. And the everyday just tends to get lost in it. A big part of what I do as a coach is helping simplify the everyday, but also help you live intentionally in the everyday. Because your everyday life matters to God. You've probably heard it before, Sunday Christians, people that show up do right by God and in front of everyone else on a Sunday. And then you go back to living how you were every other day of the week. Now, I'm not talking even stark contrast, an obvious sin. I'm talking about just going back to living your week and stressing over your finances, wondering how you're supposed to parent that child that you're butting heads with. You're struggling just with everyday life things and not handing it to God. You're trying to do it in your own strength. I am guilty of this too. This is something that I need to constantly work on because I am naturally someone that likes to control my environment, control everything around me. It is an active choice to have to surrender that control to God. And through that, through the way that I go about my day, the way that I conduct myself through business, the way that I go about my work, my relationships, all of that. That with the right heart, with faith, with surrender, with love, hope, kindness, all these things, that is what I know is pleasing to him. Now, Colossians 3.23, it says, whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Now, I've carried this through with every job I've had, when I worked in fast food to when I worked in a dealership, to insurances, banking, you name it. And even more so now, even with my business, it didn't matter what job I was doing, and if nobody was watching, I always gave it my best. I made sure everything was clean and spotless, even if no one saw it, no one knew how much effort I was putting in. I knew that he was watching. That was a test of my character. And it built some grit. And there were some tough days, particularly working in fast food. If any of you have done that as a kid growing up, working in fast food and particularly like New Year's or something, and their bathrooms are just covered in yeah, you can you can fill in the blank. And having to get in there and clean it. I even did that as a manager because sometimes it was just so disgusting, I could not ask that of my team. It was that bad. But I did it. So it is important that no matter what it is you're doing, raising children, leading teams, anything, that you're doing it as if you're working for the Lord. Now, all of this sounds good. We can try and live with intention and try and do all of these things right, balance it all between surrender and control, and we understand the sacrifice of what he has given up so we can live not just in heaven and eternity, but here on earth. We get that. Yet there's a lot of us that are still struggling, being worn out, being burdened. You may even notice that I'm sounding a little bit nasally at the moment, going through a cold myself. And so there are times when it can just be just that little bit harder. I will touch on just a little bit of it, but I encourage you to read Matthew 11, 28 to 30, where he says, Come to me, all you who are wearied and burdened, and I will give you rest. That is so important because he's calling all of us. And he doesn't say, I might give you rest, or if you do these 10 different things, then you'll be at rest. Because I feel like us as humans, we naturally give ourselves that checklist of things to do, and then we can rest. It doesn't say that. It just says, come to me. So if you're feeling exhausted, you're feeling stressed out, overworked, underpaid, all of it. There's just this burden that you are carrying and this pressure. He's saying, come to him with it, and he will give you rest. This is something I've had to remind myself on even lately. And I've been actively working in this for a long time. And so it doesn't matter how good and how much you know all these things, we need the reminder from time to time. Because life still happens. When you live your life with purpose, you then have impact and influence. Doesn't matter if you're not on a social media platform or anything like that. I'm not talking influencer. I'm just saying in the circles that God has put you in, whether it be your workplace, in your home, your family, community, wherever, when you are living intentionally and within your purpose, you then have impact and influence. And that is so powerful because then it lives beyond you. It's not just about you getting the most out of your life. You're bringing everyone else up around you, encouraging them to live their best life. Because they see you can do it and it challenges them. Now, some people are going to cripple under that challenge, and they won't be able to because unfortunately the enemy gets in their ear too much. But that's not you. I know that's not you. It's a challenge, and yeah, you might have a few tears here or there, but then you step into it and you step up because you know that you've been put on this earth to be more than just who you are right now. And who you are right now is already incredible. It's already amazing. But you know that there's more. Matthew 5, 16. Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Now I'm not saying go around doing all these acts of kindness and making sure the world sees it all. We know that a lot of things like that, done in secret, generally hold that heavenly reward, which is far greater. But it is important for people to see you doing good and being kind, not that you're going out of your way to tell others, look what I'm doing, but that it's just in you. That you just help others and you do the right thing by other people because it challenges them, challenges them to do better. You see it a lot with these acts of kindness. You know, you pay for someone's groceries, they're just overcome with emotion, and one day they might be in a position where they can then pay for someone else's groceries. It challenges people, calls them up to a higher level. It's a good thing. What you do in your everyday life, every single day of the week, morning, noon, night, doesn't matter. The way you live, the way you show up, the way you care for others, and the way that you respect yourself, it ultimately points people back to him. You don't have to be the evangelist out on the street. In what you do every day, people are watching. And if you've got little ones, they are definitely watching. Now we're gonna make mistakes. We're human. There's grace to cover that. But it is important that if you want to lead a more intentional and purposeful life, then it starts now in the everyday. Being aware of what you're doing, not just going with the flow, challenging whether there's maybe different ways of doing things, better ways of doing things, not out of guilt or shame or anything like that, not at all. But out of being called up to a higher level. When we live intentionally, we stop reacting to what the day throws at us. And my goodness, I can attest that the day can throw some crazy, crazy stuff. I can see if I have that moment of weakness where I react, ugh, my whole family feels it. My whole family comes down. Honestly. And yeah, sometimes it's tough. You just wanna yell. You wanna crack it. They broke that thing that costs so much money. And perhaps you're down to your last dollar and you can't even replace that thing and you're stressed out. Call yourself up to this higher level. Be more intentional. Think about how you react in this moment is gonna impact their future. Ephesians 5, 15 to 16 says, be very careful then how you live. Not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of every opportunity. There is something to be said when you don't chase money in life and you don't chase other kinds of rewards and accolades, but you challenge yourself to grow in wisdom. All these other things tend to happen. This is where intentional living comes from. It's not filling your life with more, more things, more money, more people, more anything. But it's about being wise with what's already in front of you. Making that dollar stretch further, repairing the relationships that may be a little fractured right now. It's not about trying to replace all these things and upgrade to better things all the time, being intentional with what you've got, with what God has called and asked you to steward with what's in front of you right now. I know a lot of the things that I said today was a little bit over the place in some ways, but going through my points, I want to reiterate that Jesus came so we could live fully now, not just after this life. We're not just saved from something, but we are called into a new way of living. Your everyday life matters to God. There's freedom from carrying everything on your own, like in the verse Matthew 11, 28. And your life now can have purpose, therefore impacting and influencing others. And so, with all of this, it is important to live intentionally, not reacting to our day, being proactive, purposeful, intentional. If this is something that you find a bit challenging, that you know you need a little bit more support on, you're across so many things in your life, but there's still just this gap, this space where you just don't feel quite aligned to the way that you know God wants you to live and how you're actually living your everyday. Then I have created a space called Kingdom Woman Breakthrough. Now, all the details are in the description there. There's a link you can click. But I want to encourage you to join the next round because this is simple. It's not going to take up much of your time at all, but the things you're going to learn will be so profound that the things that are out of alignment right now will completely shift. God does a lot of work in this because we give him the space to work. When we are so busy all the time, there's no space left for him. And he wants you to get the most out of your everyday. Wants you to live it intentionally and purposefully because his will gets done, but so does ours. So we do go deeper in the Kingdom Woman breakthrough. And I see it almost like the other things that I do, my free stuff like this podcast, is like a doorway, you know? You can speak to someone in a doorway, but it's not going to go very deep. And then I've got my She's organized hub, and that is kind of the living room. We hang out, we chat, we learn, all of that. This Kingdom Woman breakthrough, this is the dining table where we sit down, we eat, and we digest the things that the Lord wants us to know with him seated at the head of the table. This is a space that is safe, that's going to lift you up and encourage you and build you. There is absolutely no shame or guilt in this at all. I do not believe in that. I believe that we are called to edify, comfort, and exhort through our prophetic words, that we're called to lift people up, to demonstrate the fruits of the spirit, all these things. And so if you are a Christian woman who knows there is more and you want more, you don't want to be stuck in this rut anymore. There's this ceiling that you've kind of hit and you want to break through it, then this is it. So details are in there. I encourage you to sign up. And yeah, it might be a bit of a stretch for some of you, but I'm telling you now, this is going to change the trajectory of your life. And if you've got questions, reach out to me. I will answer any of them. I appreciate that there's a lot of you listening to this podcast now, and not all of you are Christian. So this is not going to be for you. There are a lot of you who are, but this isn't the right season for you with this. And that's fine too. But if this has stirred something up in you, then I encourage you to listen because this is something that God has breathed into me and He has created. When this came together, I can tell you now there was nothing of me in this. There was stuff that blew my mind. It could only be from God. So encourage you to sign up. If you've got questions, reach out. I do hope you have a lovely Easter, that you can have great time with your family, and we can enjoy all the chocolate and all those things as well. But also reflect on the fact that yes, he came to die. He took our sins and he rose again. And through that, he gave us life eternally, but also a life that we can live to the absolute max.
